Man Purses - Part 2

Herr J is beginning to understand female logic.

Herr J:   I can’t figure out what man purse goes with suits at work and also with jeans/shorts on the weekend

Me:       Well, of course not. That’s why no one has just one purse!

Herr J:   Wow, I understand now!.....umm, I’m afraid.

It was a very proud moment. I didn’t want to scare him, so I kept to myself that the minimum really is 3 bags…both brown and black to match his shoes and belt at work, plus a casual bag.

The unofficial definition of a man purse from urbandictionary.com

A man-purse. very fashion-forward right now, seen on many hipster guys. the line between a messenger bag and murse is very fluid - typically a murse is a bit smaller than a traditional messenger, and may have a slightly more stylized look to it. a murse can also be used to carry a laptop computer - one of the reasons it is so popular right now.

"wow, Mark's new laptop fits perfectly into that small bag he carries"
"yeah, that's a great murse. it matches his american apparel shirt."

--------------------------

I dont know who Mark is but for the record...I've never heard any conversation that sounds remotely similar to either one of the examples provided. Mark may want to rethink his social circle.

Look everybody, I have a man purse (it was a gift, I swear) It's leather with a fancy strap, a tasseled zipper, a silver buckle which can be swapped to gold I guess to match your neckless or bracelet. I wore it once and got asked to a party by a total stranger. It is now safely wrapped in the original tissue and gift box. Any takers?

I've been informed that if (1) it has a strap (à la messenger bags), (2) the length is not significantly longer than the width, and (3) you call it a "man bag" or "travel bag," it's manly and you can have multiple ones. But call it a "murse," and well....you'd better start stocking up at American Apparel's bankruptcy sales.
